Mokelumne River Canyon Area

Located at 3,900 feet, Salt Springs Reservoir is on the southern edge of the Mokelumne Wilderness and the Blue Hole Trail around the northern edge of the lake offers access into this remote part of the wilderness. Downstream along the banks of the North Fork of the Mokelumne River there are several small scenic campgrounds and two day use sites. This area is popular for fishing, hiking, and swimming. Salt Springs Dam is part of Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) Mokelumne River Hydroelectric Project.
