Chaparral Campground

Chaparral Campground is a non-reservation campground composed of 7 single sites and 3 double sites located on the South Fork of the Boise River. Campground amenities include 3 vault toilet restrooms, picnic tables and fire rings. Hiking, tubing, and fishing are popular activities.

Current Conditions
Fees will be charged until October 31. Nearest potable water is located 9 miles to the east, just outside of Baumgartner Campground gates (to the south) along Forest Road #071. Water will be on until a hard freeze--usually around the end of September or first part of October.

General Information

OHVs are allowed in the campground for ingress and egress only. 

Standard Operating Times are May - September, and can be seasonally contingent

Pets must be leashed in campground.  All campfires must be attended.

Overnight Use:
Single Site: $6 per night
Double Site: $12 per night

Fees will be charged from mid-May through October 31st. $6.00 per night fee for single sites, $12.00 per night for double sites.

Pets must be remained leashed or contained within campsites at all times.

A paved parking lot ends at a concrete sidewalk that leads to the an office building with a stone and wood facade. A stand of trees flanks the building on the left and provides a backdrop for the trapezoidal sign extending from a stone base. The sign reads Fairfield Ranger District in brown text on a gold background on the top third and Sawtooth National Forest in gold text on a brown background on the bottom two-thirds. Directions

From Highway 20, travel north on Forest Highway 61 (Pine-Featherville Road) approximately 30 miles to the town of Featherville.  From there, travel east on Forest Road 227 approximately 3 miles to Chaparral Campground.
