Monticello Recreation Region

The Monticello Recreation  Area is home to the Dark Canyon Wilderness, Bears Ears National Monument and Abajo  Mountains.  With availability of a wide range of camping sites and hiking opportunities in the beautiful wilderness of southeast Utah .  Places named "Deadman Point, " Babylon Pasture," or Chippean Rocks" which are all part of the early West of the white man, the imagination can go wild over pictographs, petroglyphs, cliff dwellings, arrowheads and pottery left by Puebloans and others who came before.
