The Forest Service follows NEPA regulations issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Under this rule, Forest Service officials determine which proposed projects are shared for public input.

The agency no longer issues a schedule of proposed actions (SOPA) report. Below is the current list of proposed projects available for review—your opportunity to learn more, share feedback, and stay engaged in decisions that shape the future of our public lands.

Prescott National Forest Proposed Projects

The Prescott National Forest proposes to issue to the outfitter/guide known as AAM a 5-year priority special use permit for a river rafting outfitter guide operation on the Verde River and Verde Wild and Scenic River Segments.

The purpose of the Black Hills 2, formally Supplemental EA, is to allow for more areas of vegetation treatments and prescribed fire within the original 2011 Black Hills EA project footprint.

An analysis to determine whether to re-authorize grazing on the Blue Bell/Wolf Creek Allotment.

To make 4 small separate exploration areas on a portion of the Hassayampa River. A motorized 2.5" suction dredge will be used. Each area not to exceed 6 feet of length 6 feet of width and 4 feet of depth, equal to approx. 5.3 cubic yards per area.

A combination of prescribed fire and other treatments to move the project area towards desired conditions of the Prescott Forest Plan. The project area is the same as the 2013 Bradshaw Vegetation Management EA and includes about 65,575 acres.

Issuance of a Special Use Permit (SUP) to Draconis Energy Project, LLC (Draconis) for access to areas of the Prescott National Forest, Bradshaw and Chino Ranger District (PNF, BRD/CRD) to support electric transmission line construction.

This is a duplicate SOPA entry. Project not cancelled but represented under project number 57628 under the same project name.

This project would include placer gold mining operations on approximately 6 acres of land. Mining activities include mining out two deposits (Pit # 3 and # 4), developing an access road off FR 9262E, and a stockpile site. This is a 15-year project.

Issuance of up to five priority use outfitter-guide permits for big game hunting on the Prescott National Forest.

The Prescott National Forest proposes to reissue an existing priority special use permit for outfitting and guiding (Hunting) for a period of 10 years.Guided hunting activities can occur year round, majority of the use occurs during the fall hunts.

Improve pool habitat by sediment removal, instream structures, exclosure fences, and removal of juniper tree encroachment in three sites.

To withdraw 3,739 acres of Prescott National Forest lands from location and entry under the US mining laws, and from leasing under the mineral and geothermal leasing laws, for a 20 year term, subject to valid existing rights

Adding mastication of fuels to areas within the original Hassayampa Restoration EA.

Facility Manager Communications Lease for the "Lucky Canyon" communications site to support enhanced wireless communications coverage for the Interstate 17 highway corridor.

The pole will be placed at the base of a juniper tree, and conduit will be trenched 3-4 inches deep for approximately 650ft from the Center to the juniper. Project area/disturbance = 0.03 acres.

The Project would authorize mining placer deposits from approximately 11 acres for up to 20 years. Mining would be conducted with suction dredges, sluice boxes, dry washers, high bankers, metal detectors, gold pans, and hand tools

Gary and Sharla Mortimer have proposed to purchase 2 tracts of National Forest System (NFS) land under the authority of the "Small Tracts Act," P.L. 97-465. Disposal of the tracts will resolve certain encroachments on NFS land on the Prescott Forest

Limit the area to Day Use, with no overnight camping. The construction of designated parking along County Road 71 on the north side of the Verde River with designated path(s) to the river.

This project would include gold mining operations on approximately 48 acres (10 acres in the Red Hill #2 placer mining claim (PMC) and 38 acres in the Riverbend PMC), with an additional 4 acres for processing facilities, settling ponds, and roads.

Combination of mechanical treatments and prescribed fire to reduce fuel loading and move vegetation toward desired conditions. This DNA will be based on the 2019 Chino Landscape Restoration EA.

The Forest Service proposes to authorize Prescott College to conduct academic field courses year-round across forests in Arizona including adventure education, biology, human ecology, natural history, physical geography, & field ecology.

We propose to authorize a State-wide O&G Permit to Prescott College to conduct academic field courses year-round for a period of ten years. This is currently authorized under a existing permit on the Prescott, Coconino, Kaibab, A/S, and Coronado NFs.

The Prescott National Forest is proposing to reissue a 10-year special use permit for 2 water pipelines, 1 springbox, 600 gallon water tank, and cattle exclosure fence.

The Forest Service, Prescott National Forest, is proposing to issue a 10-yr special use permit to the Rim Country Bowhunters Association for their existing site located off Cherry Rd in Camp Verde, AZ.

The objective of this project is to reforest 4,040 acres which were burned in the Battle Fire (1972), August Fire (2007), Palace Fire (2007), Lane 2 Fire (2008), Crown King Ash Creek Burn (2008), Gladiator Fire (2012) and Horse Fire (2020).

The PNF proposes to issue to Verde Adventures, Inc. a 10-year priority special use permit for a river boating outfitter guide operation on the Verde River.

The Prescott National Forest proposes to develop a trailhead and system of trails, in coordination with the City of Cottonwood, along FR493 (West Mingus Avenue) in the Cottonwood and Clarkdale Area.
