Due to its unique rustic style and its location on the Smokey Bear Ranger District (birthplace of Smokey Bear), Monjeau Lookout has been a major tourist destination for decades, hosting thousands of visitors each year. The dirt road leading to the site is steep and only open during the summer; however, you are welcome to walk the remaining three-quarter of a mile from the gate to the lookout tower at any time of the year.
