CURRENT SITUATION: Suppression repair work around Jacob Lake due to the White Sage Fire has been completed. Crews will finish suppression repair work on Forest Service (FS) Road 22 in the next couple days, allowing equipment to be moved to FS Road 611. Work on FS Road 611 will include cutting, skidding, processing and hauling of hazardous trees. After removal of hazard trees, ditches and culverts will need to be cleared of slash and other debris to allow water to flow freely and cattle guards that were damaged will be repaired.
Parts of the fire area that received rain from prior storms still need to dry out to allow crews to safely access these areas to begin suppression repair work.
Crews working along the Arizona National Scenic Trail are flagging hazard trees for removal and Resource Advisors will review this flagging before tree removal begins.
Fire personnel in the Initial Attack (IA) group remain fully staffed and prepared to respond to any incidents within the fire area.
WEATHER: Strong southwest winds (30 to 40 mph gusts over exposed areas) will continue through Thursday. Seasonable temperatures will return today with high temps in the 60’s and low temps near 40 degrees. Dry conditions will remain through the weekend.
