McMillen Campground

Current Conditions

Generally open year-round. Occasionally closed in winter for public safety due to heavy ice buildup.

McMillen Campground is a great place for either a picnic or overnight camping.

McMillen Campground is in a riparian area surrounded by tall conifers. Since it is a small area, it makes it more private for either a picnic or for camping. Cherry Creek runs in front of the campground and when it carries water makes a great splashing place for kids. This campground is cool in the summertime and very scenic in the fall. The dark green of the evergreens, golden aspen, rustic scrub oaks, coupled with the bright red of sumac vines make for wonderful fall colors.

All sites first come, first served.

General Information

No wood available in the area. You will either have to bring wood from somewhere else or you can use charcoal or propane. It is possible that Cherry Creek, which runs in front of the campground, could get high water during periods of heavy rain.

Closest Stores:
Silver City is the closest town with all the amenities. There are several grocery stores, gas stations and restaurants available. The town is big enough to offer anything needed.

Available for overnight use

OHV and ATVs are prohibited in the campground. Hunting and shooting are prohibited in the campground. Stock animals are not allowed in the immediate campground. A 14-day stay limit applies.

No pass required

Permits are required for commercial or organized uses.

No fees are required for this site

Pets must be leashed within the campground.
