Madera Canyon recreation area

A Visitor Information Station at the Proctor parking area, run by Friends of Madera Canyon volunteers, is usually open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays year-round. Hours are typically 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. from April through September and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from October through March.

The Friends of Madera Canyon, a volunteer partner organization, helps the US Forest Service maintain recreation sites in the Canyon and provides brochures and educational programs. Visit friendsofmaderacanyon.org to learn more.

A paved road runs the length of Madera Canyon providing access to creekside picnic areas and many hiking trails make this a perfect year-round recreation destination.

Day-use: $8 per vehicle Weekly: $10 per vehicle Buy a pass online, or purchase a pass on-site with cash or check. Proof of payment, or a valid Coronado National Forest Annual Pass or Interagency (America the Beautiful) Pass, including the Annual, Senior, Access, or Military Pass, must be displayed on the driver's side of the vehicle dashboard. Learn more about accepted passes.

Directions

From Tucson, Arizona, travel south on I-19 for approximately 35 miles to the Continental Road exit (Exit 63) in Green Valley, Arizona. Turn left (east) on Continental Road and go approximately 1 mile to the junction with the Madera Canyon/White House Canyon Road. Turn right (southwest) and travel approximately 11 miles to the entrance of the Madera Canyon Recreation Area.
