Bog Springs #156

This is a very pleasant .9 mile one-way moderate hike along a rocky uphill trail through green grasses, big trees, and long-distance views. It is located conveniently close to Bog Springs Campground, Madera Trailhead and Picnic Area, and other developed recreation sites within the Madera Canyon Recreation Area, making this a popular trail where you can usually count on having company. 

General Information

Motorized equipment and equipment used for mechanical transport are prohibited. This includes the use of motor vehicles, motorboats, motorized equipment, bicycles, hang gliders, wagons, carts, portage wheels, and the landing of aircraft including helicopters, unless provided for in specific legislation.

Day-use: $8 per vehicle Weekly: $10 per vehicle Buy a pass online, or purchase a pass on-site with cash or check. Proof of payment, or a valid Coronado National Forest Annual Pass or Interagency (America the Beautiful) Pass, including the Annual, Senior, Access, or Military Pass, must be displayed on the driver's side of the vehicle dashboard. Directions

The official start of the trail at Madera Trailhead and Picnic Area:
Leave Interstate 19 at the Continental Road/Madera Canyon Exit. Turn east and follow the signs to Madera Trailhead and Picnic Area in the Madera Canyon Recreation Area. The parking lot will be on the left-hand side of the road.

Trailhead from the Campground:
Leave Interstate 19 at the Continental Road/Madera Canyon Exit. Turn east and follow the signs to Bog Springs Campground in the Madera Canyon Recreation Area. Turn left into the campground and drive around the loop to the trail parking area. The trail follows an old roadbed past campsite #13.
