Recreation Region: Santa Catalina Mountains

Blackett's Ridge #48

Blackett’s Ridge #48 is a out-and-back spur trail connected to Phoneline Trail #27, leading up Sabino Canyon ridge to stunning views of Tucson and the Santa Catalinas valley. The trail initially switchbacks steeply and then gradually climbs in elevation along the ridgeline, ending on the ridge. Considered difficult due to elevation change, it travels up approximately 1,300 feet in 1.6 miles with little shade, so come prepared with plenty of water, salty snacks, and sturdy shoes. While popular given it’s location and views, foot traffic drops dramatically from Phoneline to Blackett’s Ridge, offering opportunities for solitude amongst the rocky slope-loving Sonoran Desert succulents.
