Winfield Dispersed Camping Area

The Winfield dispersed camping area, just off of FSR 390 with a few flat areas for RVs or tents. The Winfield historic site is only a 5-minute walk and Clear Creek offers great fishing opportunities. There are hiking opportunities nearby at the South Fork Clear Creek Trailhead to Mount Huron and the Lake Ann Trail #1462 that follows the Continental Divide Trail National Scenic Trail as well as the North Fork Clear Creek Trail #1463.

Directions

From Leadville: Travel 19 miles south on US Highway 24, turn right on Lake County Road 390 (Clear Creek Road) then travel 11 miles on CR 390 to the Winfield Mining Camp Interpretive Site, the camping area is just south of the site on FS 390.

From Buena Vista: Travel 14 miles north on US Highway 24, turn left on Lake County Road 390 (Clear Creek Road) then travel 11 miles on CR 390 to the Winfield Mining Camp Interpretive Site, the camping area is just south of the site on FS 390.

The first few miles of Lake County Road 390 (Clear Creek Road) go through private property, please be respectful and stay on the road.
