White Star Campground
White Star Campground is in ponderosa pine and sage habitat at 9,300 feet on the northern shore of Twin Lakes Reservoir. Facilities include picnic tables with lantern poles, fire rings with grates and vault toilets.
There are three loops in which to find your perfect campsite: Sage and Valley Loops have reservable sites, while Ridge Loop is first come, first served.
A boat ramp, parking and angler fishing areas are just down the road from the campground.
High altitude sickness may occur at this altitude.
Reservations
Make Reservations HereCall 1-877-444-6777 or visit recreation.gov at least four days in advance to make a reservation. A Friday and Saturday night minimum stay is required on weekends. A three-night minimum stay is required on holiday weekends. Walk-ups are exempt from the nightly minimum.
General Information
THE RECREATIONAL VEHICLE (RV) DUMP STATION AT WHITE STAR IS CLOSED. Everyone must go to the Leadville Sanitation Building for trailer dumping and water fill-ups.
The facility is generally open May through September. Opening and closing dates are weather dependent. Services such as water, trash or a host may not be available during the early and late season.

The Interagency Senior Pass (previously known as the Golden Age Pass) and the Interagency Access Pass qualifies for a 50% discount at concessionaire run campsites. The discount only applies to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party.
The following restrictions apply to this campground:
- A maximum of eight people is allowed per site.
- A maximum of three tents or one RV and two tents is allowed per site.
- Dogs must be leashed at all times.
- No discharge of firearms or fireworks is allowed.
- Only licensed vehicles can operate inside the campground.
- Camping is not allowed behind a locked gate.
$30 nightly fee per site. This includes parking for two vehicles. A third vehicle is an additional $11 per night. RVs and ATV/boat trailers count as one vehicle.
Fees are payable by cash, check or money order. A self-service fee tube is available.
First-come, first-served sites must be occupied the first night.
Dogs must be leashed at all times.

Directions
From Leadville, travel 15 miles south on U.S. Highway 24 to Colorado Highway 82. Turn right and continue west on Highway 82. Turn left past Mount Elbert Power Plant into the campground.
