Goodwin Trail #1346
Goodwin Trail #1346 is a 3.4-mile (one way) hiking trail for foot or stock animal travel, located entirely in the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness. It is rated as difficult; the trail gains about 2,000 feet in elevation. The Goodwin Trail spurs off the Rainbow Trail #1336, which is a motorized trail outside of the wilderness, and is best accessed from the Venable Trailhead near the Alvarado Campground.
General Information
The Sangre de Cristo Wilderness was established in 1993 to preserve its quality, character and integrity. This area is intended to be a place with minimal human impact where natural processes are the primary influences. Human activity is limited to primitive recreation and travel. Please follow Leave No Trace outdoor ethics to ensure that this and future generations experience this special place in its natural condition.

Directions
From Westcliffe, CO, take State Highway 69 south about 3 miles to County Road 140 (Schoolfield Road). Turn right on County Road 140 and follow it about 7 miles to the Comanche/Venable Trailhead. Follow the Rainbow Trail #1336 north to the Goodwin Trail #1346.
