Colorado Trail #1776 (Fooses Creek)
The Colorado Trail travels south from Highway 50 to the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail.
The trail follows Forest Road 225 for a short distance and continues up the Fooses Creek drainage just west of Fooses Reservoir. The trail splits and travels up South Fooses Creek and intersects with the Continental Divide Trail.

Parking is available for 10-12 vehicles.
Directions
From Salida, travel west on U.S. Highway 50 to County Road 225 and continue on to Forest Service Road 225. Turn left onto Forest Service Road 225.C and travel a short distance to the parking area.
Recreation Opportunities
Day Hikes Info
This section of the trail can be hiked as a day trip to the Continental Divide and back, but be prepared for a steady climb and a trip of over 8 miles.
Biking - Mountain Info
This Fooses Creek section of the Colorado Trail will challenge the average mountain biker. Several steep and rocky sections are best left to experienced mountain bikers.
XC Skiing/Snowshoeing Info
This portion of the Colorado Trail is one of the area's most popular cross-country skiing and snowshoeing routes. The trail climbs toward the Continental Divide and winds through lodgepole pine forest.
