Matchless Campground

Matchless Campground is located on the eastern shore of Turquoise Lake, has 20 sites and can accommodate larger recreational vehicles. Facilities include restrooms, potable water, picnic tables and fire rings. This campground is adjacent to the boat ramp and parking areas. During weekdays, usage is moderate, but weekend usage is heavy. High altitude sickness may occur at 10,000 feet.

Reservations

This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site, if one is available.

General Information

This campground is named after one of the profitable silver mines in Leadville that made Horace A.W. Tabor one of the richest men in America.

The facility is generally open May through September. Opening and closing dates are weather dependent. Services such as water, trash or a host may not be available during early and late season.

The Interagency Senior Pass (previously known as the Golden Age Pass) and the Interagency Access Pass qualifies for a 50% discount at concessionaire-run campsites. The discount only applies to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party.

The following restrictions apply to this campground:

A maximum of eight people is allowed per site.
A maximum three tents or one RV and two tents is allowed per site.
Dogs must be leashed at all times.
No discharge of firearms or fireworks is allowed.
Only licensed vehicles can operate inside the campground.

$29 nightly fee per site for overnight camping, which includes two vehicles. A third vehicle is an additional $11 per night. Recreational vehicles (RVs) and ATV/boat trailers count as one vehicle.

A fee of $25 per night will be charged for overflow parking.

Fees are payable by cash, check or money order. A self-service fee tube is available.

First-come, first-served sites must be occupied the first night.

Dogs must be leashed at all times.
