Clohesy Lake/Pear Lake Trailhead

Clohesy Lake/Pear Lake Trailhead accesses Clohesy Lake Trail #1461.A and the Pear Lake Trail#1461. The cabin at Clohesy Lake was struck by lightening several years ago and burned down. The Pear Lake Trail# 1461 is 2.9 miles and leads to Pear Lake. The road to the trailhead, Forest Service Road 381, is a high-clearance 4-wheel drive road with a stream crossing. During snow melt the stream can be VERY high, do not attempt to cross during high water.

Trail# 1459 is no longer maintained and is NOT the standard route to Missouri Mountain. Please protect sensitive habitat and prevent erosion by following the designated maintained route located at Missouri Gulch Trailhead and using trails Missouri Gulch Trail #1469 and Missouri Mountain Trail #1460 to reach the summit of Missouri Mountain.

Directions

From Buena Vista Colorado, go approximately 15 miles north on Highway 24 towards Leadville. Turn west on County Road 390 at Clear Creek Reservoir. Go approximately 8 miles west on County Road 390. Turn left (south) onto Forest Road 381 and travel for 2 miles to the trailhead. The road to the trailhead is a high-clearance 4-wheel drive road with a stream crossing. During snow melt the stream can be VERY high, do not attempt to cross during high water.
