Cimarron Ponds Fishing Site

Located in the Cimarron Recreation Area, these four, human-made ponds were constructed for migratory birds.  There is an accessible fishing pier, covered picnic sites and campgrounds nearby. Trout are stocked in the ponds in the winter, and channel catfish are stocked during the summer. Please refer to Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks for further information regarding licensing, size limits, etc.

Swimming is not allowed.

Directions

From Elkhart, Kan., travel 7 miles north on State Highway 27. Turn east (right) onto Forest System Road 700 and continue 4 miles. The ponds are located in the Cimarron Recreation Area on the north side (left) of the road.
