Forest Order

Pursuant to 16 United States Code (U.S.C.) § 551 and 36 Code of Federal Regulations (C.F.R.) § 261.50(a), the following acts are prohibited on National Forest System lands at the Winter Park Resort on the Sulphur Ranger District of the Arapaho National Forest that is located in Grand County, Colorado (the “Restricted Areas”) as depicted on Exhibits A and B on the attached maps, hereby incorporated into this Order and further defined below. Restricted Area (1) is shown in Exhibit A and is described as a portion of the Winter Park Resort administrative boundary, which is 25 feet in width, except at 2 access points, along the southern edge of the administrative boundary. The closure begins east of Vasquez Mountain, continues approximately 12,080 feet south and east along the ridge top to North Cone Peak; to a signed access point located south of North Cone Peak; the closure continues approximately 7,700 feet east along the south ridge of the Parsenn Bowl and Sweedes Ridge terminating at a signed access point at the nose of the ridge between Parsenn and Zero Creek drainages. Located in the East ½ of Section 28 T2S, R75W, 6th Principle Meridian. Restricted Area (2) is shown in Exhibit B and includes all National Forest System Lands within the Winter Park Resort administrative boundary. Located in Sections 15, 16, 22; South ½ Sections of 9, 10; East ½ Sections 21, 28; North ½ Section of 27 T2S, R75W, 6th Principle Meridian. This Order is necessary for public health and safety. 

PROHIBITIONS: 36 C.F.R. 261.53(e), It is prohibited to go into or be upon any area which is closed for the protection of: (e) Public Health and Safety. 1. described above and shown in Exhibit A at any time between November 1 and April 30 of each year. 2. described above and shown in Exhibit B when using or possessing a snowmobile or other over-the-snow vehicle. 

EXEMPTIONS: Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order: 1. Person with a permit specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission. 2. Any Federal, State or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty. This Order supersedes, rescinds and replaces Order ARP-SRD-2014-02 signed on June 6, 2014. This Order is in effect when signed and will remain in effect until November 30th, 2025 or until rescinded, whichever occurs first. Done at Fort Collins, Colorado this 30th day of November, 2020.
