Current Job Openings

The Forest Service offers positions for both permanent and temporary employees. Permanent positions are for full-time employees and provide a flexible range of federal government benefits. Temporary jobs are for part-time or seasonal employees and provide benefits that vary with the position and the location.

Ongoing opportunities: You can always view current and upcoming Forest Service job opportunities across the nation online by viewing the Forest Service job outreach website.

Permanent Employment

  • All permanent jobs are advertised through the USAJOBS website. You can search the openings by agency, location, salary range, or by "series" (a system for identifying the type of work). Some positions are only open to current Federal Employees; only the jobs open to everyone will be shown in the search results.

Our national Forest Service website includes additional information on How to Apply, Salary & Benefits, Student Programs, as well as Volunteering.

Seasonal Jobs

The Forest Service fills many Temporary Jobs each year for a variety of positions. Due to the seasonal nature of many of the responsibilities of the Forest Service, such as wildfire fighting and seasonal recreation programs, many temporary workers are required each year.
