Campgrounds

Campground conditions are listed under the recreation conditions report. Many campground and cabin reservations can be reserved online at www.recreation.gov or phone 1.877.444.6777.

Trails

There are over 500 trails on the Willamette National Forest from short day hikes to backpacks in the wilderness. We update individual trails if conditions change. View our hiking trails here.

Wilderness

Central Cascade Wilderness Permits are required for all overnight use in the Three Sisters, Mt. Washington, and Mt. Jefferson Wilderness areas from the Friday before Memorial Day through the last Friday in September. Some trailheads require this permit for day use as well. Learn more about the Central Cascades Wilderness Permit system here and make sure to review Wilderness rules and regulations before traveling.

Road Conditions

Only roads that have known closures, delays or hazards are reported. If you have questions about specific roads not listed, please contact the appropriate ranger station. View forest road conditions.

Area weather report from the National Weather Service. The Willamette National Forest spans a large area. Look for the weather report closest to your planned activity.

River Hazard Warnings

Inflatables (i.e. air mattresses, pool toys and inner tubes) are not designed for river please avoid using these devices for river recreation.

Winter Recreation

Santiam Pass and Willamette Pass are the main winter recreation areas for winter sports on the forest.
