Clackamas-Breitenbush Scenic Byway (Forest Rd 46)

PARTIAL CLOSURE

(From intersection with FSR 4685 to the Mount Hood National Forest boundary.)

03/25/2024: A temporary closure was put in place on FSR 46 from the FSR 4685 junction north to the Mount Hood National Forest boundary. While contractors work in the area, no travel will be allowed on FSR 46. That includes vehicle, foot, bicycle traffic. FSR 46, part of the West Cascades National Scenic Byway, is expected to reopen later in 2024. View Beachie Creek and Lionshead closure order and map.

Road is not maintained for snow and ice. Sections may not be passable in the winter. Call 503-854-3366 for conditions from Hwy 22.

  • Forest Service Road 2209 from Forest Boundary to terminus, including spur 250.

  • Forest Service Road 2223 from Oregon State Highway 22 to terminus, including spurs: 361, 363, 501, 504, 509, 520, 521, 525, 526, 528, 535, 536, 540, 610, 635.

  • Forest Service Road 2207, including spurs: 126, 206, 211, 213, 214-16, 225.

  • Forest Service Road 2225, including spurs: 010-12, 450, 459-462, 264-467, 503, 505.

Aufderheide Scenic Byway (Forest Service Road 19)

OPEN 

03/25/2024: A landslide occured on Forest Service Road 19 (Aufderheide Drive) near mile post 55.5 about 3/4 of a mile north of Cougar Dam on Dec. 3. Forest engineers worked to reopen the road, and traffic is currently reduced to one lane. Road repair work is expected to be ongoing and intermittent. Terwilliger Hot Springs remains open but could be difficult to access. Road is not maintained for snow and ice. Sections may not be passable in the winter. Forest Road 689

EWEB is upgrading equipment at the Carmen-Smith Hydroelectric facility. In order complete the project safely, Forest Service Roads 690, 730, and 689 will be closed to all public use through the year 2025. The McKenzie River Trail and associated trailheads will remain open.
