On Oct. 5, a new interagency Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Recreation Information Center will open in downtown Portland at the Robert Duncan Plaza, 333 S.W. 1st Ave., at the 1st and Oak streets MAX line stop.

The joint Recreation Information Center, located on the first floor of the building that houses the BLMs Oregon State Office and the Forest Services Pacific Northwest Regional Office, will carry a variety of recreational information. Visitors may purchase the full range of Interagency Passes, Northwest Forest Passes and other federal recreation passes. In addition, all Forest Service and BLM recreation maps are available with other publications through an interagency partnership with the Discover Your Northwest Interpretive Association.

The Forest Service is relocating from the Nature of the Northwest Information Center in northeast Portland to join the BLMs Land Office, which will continue to serve the needs of those filing mining claim forms and researching land status. Both the Land Office and the Recreation Information Center will be open Monday thru Friday, 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Visitors are reminded to bring photo identification and be prepared to check in at the front desk as a routine requirement to accessing a federal office building.
