Temporary closure of areas of Eleven Point Ranger District to support feral hog eradication activities

ROLLA, MO. (January 17, 2017) - The Mark Twain National Forest has implemented a temporary closure of two areas (approximately 600 acres in size) for January 16 and 17.  The Ozark Scenic Riverways in cooperation with Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) plan to conduct feral hog eradication activities primarily on Ozark National Scenic Riverways. However, two parcels of national forest system lands are within the eradication boundary and will be closed to all public use during this timeframe to protect public health and safety in the area.

Two areas within the Eleven Point Ranger District will be closed to the public from 7:00 a.m., January 16, through 5:30 p.m., January 17. These areas are:

  • T 26 N, R 1 W, Section 12 and
  • T 25 N, R 1 E, Section 3 E and 10 E.

This closure includes all access to the area from FR 3250 and County Road F-227 in Carter County. All Forest Service Trails within the closure area will also be closed during this timeframe, including the Ozark Trail—Big Springs Connector Trail #266106-1.
