2024 Post Fire in the Angeles National Forest

ARCADIA, Calif, June 17, 2024—On June 15, 2024, at 1:50 p.m., a brush fire was reported near Gorman Road off the I-5 Highway. Angeles National Forest firefighters responded to the wildfire with a mutual aid agreement alongside the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The fire now referred to as the Post Fire, has quickly grown to over 15,160 acres with 8% containment currently. The USDA Forest Service is in unified command with the Angeles National Forest, Los Padres National Forest, Los Angeles County Fire Department, Ventura County Fire Department, and California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection to support the wildfire containment.

For the safety of forest visitors, Pyramid Lake, Los Alamos Campground, and Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area remain closed, and the evacuation order was executed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and California State Park. Road closures affect the South of Ralphs Ranch Road at Quail Lake Road by California Highway Patrol.   

Firefighters face steep terrain and smoky conditions while battling on the southeast side of the wildfire. The cause remains under investigation. The weather forecast of hot dry gusty winds and red flag warnings may continue to impact this wind driven fire. Temperatures are expected to increase later in the week and as we enter the weekend.
