Sledding/Tubing

You must have a valid Sno-Park permit in your vehicle windshield when you park in designated winter recreation areas Nov. 1 through April 30. Oregon Sno-Park permits are available at DMV offices and other vendors.

Before heading out to sled make sure you check the weather reports, have chains or traction tires for your vehicle, and have a second location for sledding in mind as once the sno-park is full you cannot park alongside highway roads. Oregon snow can be wet and heavy, pack extra clothes and equipment to make sure your visit is as comfortable as possible.

Hood River Ranger District spans the North, East, and part of the South side of Mt Hood.

Zigzag Ranger District
Zigzag Ranger District spans 250,000 acres on the south and west side of Mt Hood and is about an hour from Portland.

The district manages one of the region's largest recreation programs including 550 summer homes, 30 developed campgrounds, three ski areas including Timberline Lodge, over 300 miles of trails, and two wilderness areas.

The district also manages the Bull Run Watershed cooperatively with the City of Portland, which supplies drinking water to the Portland metro area.

The Zigzag Ranger District offices are historic, constructed in the 1930s by the CCC.
