Biking
The Wayne National Forest has trails managed for mountain bikes in the Athens and Marietta Units of the Athens Ranger District. Mountain bikes are also allowed on the off-highway vehicle trails, but riders should stay alert and use caution when on these trails.
There are also opportunities to ride road bikes throughout the Wayne National Forest, including within the Lake Vesuvius Recreation Area.
Seasonal Trail Closures
Wayne National Forest mountain bike trails are open to foot travel year-round but are seasonally closed to mountain bike use from winter to early spring. Visit our Recreation page to see seasonal open and close dates for the current year.
