SOPA Reports
The Schedule of Proposed Actions (SOPA) contains a list of proposed
actions for Ottawa National Forest that will soon begin or are currently undergoing environmental
analysis and documentation. It provides information so that you can become
aware of and indicate your interest in specific proposals. We encourage your
early and ongoing involvement in any proposals of interest to you.
Re-issue road special use permit #1 1003.2 feet (.19 miles) in length by 24 ft wide for .6 acres; special use permit #2 4,247 feet (.80 miles) 14 feet wide for 1.36 acres

Re-Issue a special use permit for the operation and maintenance of a 4" steel gas line from North of Marenisco, MI to the former Department of Correction Camp Ojibway. Project area is 26,400 feet in length by 8 feet wide for 4.8 acres
This project proposes to address gaps between the existing conditions and the range of desired conditions described in the Forest Plan through a variety of proposed activities, including vegetation management, hazardous fuel reduction and others.
Michigan & Wisconsin Realty, LLC, has proposed a land exchange with the Ottawa. The proposed land exchange includes approximately 259.38 acres of non-federal land and 218.25 acres of National Forest System lands.
This project includes vegetation and old growth management, transportation system modifications, and recreation and wildlife improvements on the Ontonagon Ranger District.
The South Branch Ontonagon River is popular with canoeists and kayakers. Currently there are limited sites to access the river especially for users desiring shorter distances between existing landings.
Project #59633 has been cancelled as it is a unintentional duplicate entry. Those interested in information related to this project should refer to project #59634. This duplicate project will remain on the SOPA for one quarter, and then removed.
Operate and Maintain buried copper telephone line and buried Fiber Optic cable. The Project area is located in/near roadways in a 10 feet wide right-of-way.
Upper dam is located on the East Branch Ontonagon River. Upper dam consists of old timber, metal pipes, as well as tree material placed by beavers. This project proposes to remove the dam to restore the area to natural conditions and allow for
