SOPA Reports
The Schedule of Proposed Actions (SOPA) contains a list of proposed
actions for National Forests in Mississippi that will soon begin or are currently undergoing environmental
analysis and documentation. It provides information so that you can become
aware of and indicate your interest in specific proposals. We encourage your
early and ongoing involvement in any proposals of interest to you.
AT&T proposes to place a fiber optic cable using directional boring along and adjacent to City Rd. ROW 10x758ft (0.17 ac.) Stone County, Mississippi.T4S R11W and Sections 14
Proposal for the installation of 3,379 feet of buried fiber optic communications cable within the existing AT&T (Bell South) 10 foot right of way granted before USFS acquired the property in two sections along TV Tower Rd Project total Acres 0.78
Authorize a special use permit to improve and maintain an existing 'woods' road, approx. 1008 feet long and 20 feet wide (0.5ac.), for access to private land.
To decommission .30 miles of existing trail and construct .50 miles of new trail. Rehabilitation of decommissioned trail, which will include felling non-commercial trees and allowing the area to re-vegetate naturally or planting native grasses.

The National Forests in Mississippi proposes to establish a river corridor boundary and the preparation of a Comprehensive River Management Plan (CRMP) for the 21 mile Black Creek Wild and Scenic River.
Replace an existing bridge with new structure to meet current bridge standards. Widen right-of-way for construction activities and installation of temporary detour bridge.
The Forest Service proposes to conduct management activities on the De Soto Ranger District to enhance the habitat and management of federally threatened gopher tortoise and federally endangered dusky gopher frog.

The Bienville National Forest has received a request from MS Resources, LLC for a Permit to Drill USA 21-12 #1, permitted to 16,500 feet for an exploratory test on Lease MSES-056720.

Relocate a powerline from a 'cross-country' route to a location along a highway and county road. Abandon approx. 6.1 acres of existing r/w and authorize approx. 10.6 acres of new r/w (non-contiguous).
Relocate an overhead powerline to a new location along a state highway, upgrade the line from 7,200 to 14,400 volts, and remove abandoned poles and wire.
Installation of aerial fiber optic line within the existing aerial powerline right-of-way (ROW). The portion of the project crossing National Forest lands will consist of 251 aerial miles of fiber optic line to be installed on the existing poles.
project is to extend single phase powerline (0.81mi) (4,276ft. x 25ft.) onto private property for the purpose of serving a new member. The new service will begin on the Northeast comer of the intersection of John Bond Road and FS 330A in Perry County

Proposal to authorize a special use permit for construction and operation of a new transmission line across National Forest land between North Oakland and Coffeeville, MS.
Harrison County Board of Supervisors and District 5 Road Dept. propose to install a sign for the community of Success and maintain a small area around the sign by mowing and ornamental plantings. Area is within the existing road right-of-way.
Longleaf restoration, commercial thinning, midstory reduction, red cockaded woodpecker management, and prescribed burning for the recovery of theatened and endangered species in the Sand Hill Creek Analysis Unit.
The project is for proposed addition of ROW required for bridge replacement on West Salem Road. A public road easement would be issued to add .31 acres to the existing .25 acres of ROW. Some clearing would take place.
This project is to install a temporary 8%u2019Wx20%u2019Lx8%u2019H wood awning with tin roof for use during dry fire exercises. An existing wall would be used to tie in the rafters and tin. Post will be 4x4, 24" in concrete, and 2x6 rafters.
