  • 05-15-52-25-08 Max Fire Closure (ORDER)

    Effective July 16, 2025, the Max Fire Closure Order will go into effect in the fire perimeter. For maps and a list of prohibited activities, please view the attached maps and Forest Order No. 05-15-52-25-08.

    • Forest Road No. 10S02 is closed from its intersection with Forest Road No. 10S17, south to its intersection with Forest Road No. 10S69.
    • Forest Road No. 10S69 is closed from its intersection with Forest Road No. 10S02, south to the boundary of the Sierra National Forest and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer lands, approximately one mile north of Trimmer Springs Road.

Max Fire Closure

 

Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Sierra National Forest.  This Order is effective from July 16, 2025, through July 28, 2025. 

 

  1. Going into or being upon National Forest System lands within the Max Fire Closure Area, as shown on Exhibit A and described in Exhibit B. 

36 C.F.R. § 261.52(e).

 

  1. Being on National Forest System roads within the Max Fire Closure Area, as shown on Exhibit A and described in Exhibit B. 36 C.F.R. § 261.54(e).

 

Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

 

  1. Any Federal, State, or local officer or member of an organized rescue or fire-fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

 

  1. Persons with a Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order), specifically exempting them from this Order. 

 

  1. Owners, lessees, and residents of privately owned land, to the extent necessary to access their land. 

 

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions contained in 36 C.F.R. Part 261, Subpart A.

 

A violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both.  16 U.S.C. § 551 and 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571, and 3581.

The boundary of the Max Fire Closure begins at the confluence of Nutmeg Creek and Big Creek, then continues north along the west side of Big Creek to its confluence with Rush Creek, then continues east, then north along the west side of Big Creek to its intersection with Forest Service Road No. 10S05, then continues east along the north side of Forest Road No.10S05 to its intersection with Forest Road No. 10S02, then continues south, then west along the south side of Forest Service Road 10S02 to its intersection with Forest Service Road No.10S69, then continues east along the north side of Forest Service Road No. 10S69 to its intersection with Nutmeg Creek, then continues south, then west along the south side of Nutmeg Creek, back to the starting point at the confluence of Nutmeg Creek and Big Creek.

 

  • Forest Road No. 10S02 is closed from its intersection with Forest Road No. 10S17, south to its intersection with Forest Road No. 10S69.
  • Forest Road No. 10S69 is closed from its intersection with Forest Road No. 10S02, south to the boundary of the Sierra National Forest and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer lands, approximately one mile north of Trimmer Springs Road.
