General Information
Directions: Located in the central region of Admiralty Island, on the western end of Davidson Lake, accessible by float plane or canoe. It is on the cross Admiralty canoe route.Activities
Dispersed Camping
Located on the west end of the lake and along the cross Admiralty canoe route, this three sided shelter offers a camping spot with surroundings that support additional tent sites.Lake and Pond Fishing

Viewing Plants
A trail system links this shelter to Salt Lake, Freshwater Lake, Mitchell Bay and Thayer Lake displaying temperate rainforest, ocean shoreline and muskeg meadow plant communities.Species | Admiralty Island comprises one of the greatest remaining blocks of productive old-growth temperate rain forest in the world. Alpine, tidal marsh and muskeg meadows are some of the other plant communities. The temperate rainforest primarily consist of western and mountain hemlock, Sitka spruce, alder, yellow cedar and shore pine. Forest understory consists primarily of blueberry, huckleberry, salmonberry, thimbleberry, fern, mosses ,devils club, false azalea and dwarf dogwood. |

Swimming
Davidson Lake is ice covered for five months, snowmelt and cold rain keeps it full during the spring and summer so the water temperature is never considered warm.
