Emigrant Group Campground
Emigrant Group Campground is located above the shoreline of Stampede Reservoir within the Tahoe National Forest. It is about 30 minutes from Truckee, Calif. The campground offers four group sites. The larger group sites are Woodsman and Prospector. They each accommodate up to 50 people. The Rancher and Trapper sites accommodate up to 25 people. Each group site has a central cooking and picnic area equipped with a campfire circle, approximately six tables and four grills. Horseshoe pits are located at the Woodsman site. Sites have filtered views of the reservoir. Accessible vault toilets and drinking water. Firewood available from the nearby Logger Campground hosts. All sites are within walking distance to the reservoir. Roads within campground are paved. Boat ramp within one mile of group sites with trailer parking available. Dump station is approximately half mile west of campground.

Boating, water skiing, swimming and fishing are popular activities on the reservoir. Anglers will find rainbow and brown trout and kokanee salmon. The Little Truckee River is nearby and offers some of Northern California's best fly-fishing. Special restrictions apply.
Many miles of hiking/biking and off-road vehicle trails crisscross the surrounding area. Very popular Commemorative Overland Emigrant bike riding/hiking trail can be accessed by riding from campground.This trail stretches over 15 miles to the west, ending near Donner Picnic area where you can take a short walk on the interpretative trail learning about the trials of the early pioneers. This trail can be very busy on weekends.
OHV Trail Access: Non-street legal OHVs must be trailered from the campground to the OHV trails.
No camping or campfires allowed outside of developed campgrounds.

Directions:
From Truckee, Cali, travel east on Highway 80 for 10 miles, to the Hirschdale Road exit. Follow Hirschdale Road/Stampede Dam Road north for eight miles, to the Stampede Reservoir. Take a left on Dog Valley Road to go over Stampede Dam. In a quarter mile the campground will be on the left.
Alternate access: From Truckee, go north on Hwy 89 for five miles and take a right on Hobart Mills Road. Follow Hobard Mills Road to Dog Valley Road and take a left. In approximately three miles, pass the boat ramp road and Logger Campground Entrance, and in a quarter mile Emigrant Group will be on the left.
