Tahoe National Forest - Silver Tip Group Campground

Area Status: Closed

Silver Tip Group Campground is located on the southwest shore of Jackson Meadow Reservoir and is adjacent to Woodcamp Campground. It is surrounded by pine and fir trees. Jackson Meadow Reservoir is a gorgeous high elevation lake with excellent opportunities for boating, canoeing, water skiing, swimming and fishing. anglers will find plentiful rainbow and brown trout. A boat ramp is located just left of the campground entrance. A designated swimming beach is nearby. A portion of the Pacific Crest Trail meanders along the east side of the lake. Hunting and biking are popular activities in the surrounding area. Snow pack determines when the campground opens. Utility hookups, showers, telephones and cell phone service are not available here. Nevada Irrigation District maintains and operates this campground.

Restrictions:	All camping must be in designated campsites within Jackson Meadow Recreation Area. Bears frequent the area; all food must be kept in approved containers. Off-road vehicle use is prohibited within the campground. Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.
Closest Towns:	The closest services are in Sierraville, 11 miles north from Hwy 89 or Truckee, 17 miles south from Hwy 89.

Directions:

From Bowman Lake: Continue on Bowman Lake Road until you reach the south shore of Jackson Meadow Reservoir (about 5 miles on a rough road). Take the right fork to reach Silver Tip Group Campground.

From Truckee: Drive 17 miles north on Hwy 89. Turn left at Little Truckee Summit on Forest Road 7. Continue 16 miles west to Jackson Meadow Reservoir. Campground is on the south west shore of the reservoir.

From Sierraville: Drive 11 miles south on Hwy 89. Turn right at Little Truckee Summit on Forest Road 7. Continue 16 miles west to Jackson Meadow Reservoir. Campground is on the south west shore of the reservoir.
