Captain Cook Trail #1364.2
From forest to tidepools, and back again, this one-mile round trip hike starts at the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center. The paved trail leads you past an old Civilian Conservation Corps camp, through wind sculpted vegetation, around Native American shell middens and down to the tidepools. At high tide the Spouting Horn and Thor's Well can be observed from Cook’s Chasm.
Always use caution on the beach. Watch for large, sudden, dangerours waves, called sneaker waves, that can sweep you off the rocky shores. know the tide schedule and stay away from logs in the surf or on wet sand. Look out for deep water and strong currents.

Cape Cove Beach trail is still accessible from Devils Churn or the small parking area near Cape Cove Beach. The trail will reopen once major repairs are complete. See map for details. |
