Wickiup Campground
Wickiup Campground sets off of Forest Road 15 tucked amongst trees, next to Canyon Creek, the perfect place to relax in the shade during the summer months and listen to the creek flow past. This is a beautiful campground that offers opportunities for picnicking and stream fishing. The campground is a good starting point for hiking, viewing wildlife and hunting during the summer and fall months. During the winter the entry to the campground makes a great starting point for snowmobile riders.

General Information
Directions:From John Day, OR. travel south on US Highway 395 approximately 10 miles to the junction with County Road 65. Follow County Road 65 approximately 7 miles the campground will be on the right.
Activities
Campground Camping
Set amongst ponderosa pines along the beautiful Canyon Creek. This campground is wonderful year round, in spring and summer visitors can enjoy hiking in the near by Strawberry Mountain Wilderness. In the fall and early winter months the campground becomes popular with hunters and during the winter the campground becomes an excellent place to start a day of riding snowmobiles.

River and Stream Fishing
Fishing in Canyon Creek or Middle Fork Canyon Creek, the two nearby streams. Fish that are caught in these streams are Rainbow Trout and Bull Trout. Rainbow Trout can be kept yet Bull Trout are ESA threatened and must be returned to the river. For regulation and license information please contact the Oregon Department Fish and Wildlife.
Big Game Hunting
During the fall and early winter big game hunting is popular in the area. Rocky Mountain Elk and mule deer are the primary big game hunted in the area. For regulation and license information please visit the Oregon Deparment of Fish and Wildlife.
Viewing Plants
During late spring and throughout the summer visitors can see a variety of wildflowers in the area. As fall begins to settle in, enjoy the beautiful changing foliage of Aspen trees and a variety of shrubs that run along the creek.
