Sawmill Point Boat Launch

Au Sable RiverThis site is adjacent to primitive campsites on Cook Pond. The boat ramp is gravel. This is a small site that gets full quickly on summer weekends.  Other Cooke Pond launches are located at Pine Acres and at Cooke Dam.

  • No permit or reservation is required outside of the permitted season.
  • Camping Permit required at primitive campsites from May 15 to September 10.
Special Use Permit -
  • No special use permit is required for individuals or small groups (74 people or less).
  • Permits are required for commercial, event or large groups (75 people or more).

Directions:

From Oscoda -

  • Travel west on E. River Rd. for 14 miles.
  • Turn right and travel north on Cooke Dam Rd. for 1.25 miles.
  • Turn left and travel west on FR 2088 for .25 miles.
  • Take right fork onto FR 2087 and drive to entrance.
