Trailhead for: Big Tree Trail #5.

This area is the site of an impressive old growth Pondrosa Tree that lived to be about 370 years old. The Big Tree has unfortunately died from insect kill but is still standing.

Directions:

From Trout Lake, Washington take Mt. Adams Road north to the intersection with Forest Road 23 and turn right.  Continue driving for one mile to Forest Road 80, signed South Climb. Make the left hand turn on to Forest Road 80.  Drive north about one mile to the turn on to Forest Road 8020, marked Big Tree.
