Trail #1E Harry's Ridge

Harry's Ridge Trail #1E is an .08 mile spur trail off the Boundary Trail #1 that provides outstanding views of Spirit Lake and Mount St. Helens. It is one of the most popular day hikes in the area. Round trip from Johnston Ridge Observatory is approximately 8 miles. Difficulty level- moderate.

From Johnston Ridge Observatory follow Boundary Trail #1 east for about 3 miles to the junction with Harry's Ridge Trail #1E. Turn right on Harry's Ridge Trail and climb for .08 miles to it's terminus on the ridge overlooking Spirit Lake to the east.

Current Conditions: 03/19/2024: Harry's Ridge Trail is accessible via the Hummocks Trail and the Boundary Trail. Due to a significant landslide on State Route 504 around mile post 51 Johnston Ridge Observatory is currently inaccessible.
Fees:
  • No fee or pass required, however site use at Johnston Ridge Observatory requires an America the Beautiful Pass or $8 per adult, children 15 and younger are free. An ANNUAL Northwest Forest Pass admits one.

   

Restrictions:
  • Please stay on the trail.
  • Dogs must be on a 6 foot leash on trail at all times.
  • No stock or bicycles.
  • No camping.
