Mill Dam Boat Ramp

Boat ramp access to Mill Dam Lake, an easily accessed and popular fishing spot along SR 40 at Mill Dam.

Mill Dam Recreation Area

Mill Dam Recreation Area has been a popular destination for generations. In the shade of live oaks overlooking the 168-acre Mill Dam Lake, Mill Dam Recreation Area offers two different experiences.

  • March 16 - September 30 -- This area is a day-use recreation area only with a large swimming area and wheelchair-accessible sandy beach.
  • October 1 to March 15 -- This area is a group campground / recreation area for day-use and tent camping.

Boating

  • Canoe or kayak Mill Dam Lake by launching either at the recreation area (which involves a haul or wheel to the beach) or via the adjacent boat launch.

Camping

  • October 1 – March 15, the Mill Dam Group Campground is available for overnight stays. Group campground reservations may be made by phone at 1-877-444-6777 or online at Recreation.gov.

Fishing

  • Anglers come from all over to enjoy bass fishing on Mill Dam Lake. Access the boat launch before the entrance to the recreation area.
  • Fishing is not permitted from the bank of the recreation area.

Picnicking

  • Under the deep shade of live oaks overlooking Mill Dam Lake is a beautiful spot for a family picnic. Large shelters also make the recreation area ideal for family reunions and other gatherings.

Swimming

  • Busy during the summer months, the swimming area has a nice beach along Mill Dam Lake and is wheelchair accessible. 

Waterskiing

  • Waterskiing is popular on Mill Dam Lake. Launch boats at the adjoining boat ramp.
