Anaconda Pintler Wilderness


Area Status: Open

The Anaconda Pintler Wilderness is a 158,656-acre area straddling the Continental Divide located in southwest Montana. It's known for its high, rugged mountain scenery where mountain goats make their home. Elevations range from 5,100 feet in the lower reaches to 10,793 feet on West Goat Peak. Passes are commonly snow-covered until mid July.   • Seymour Creek CDT to Seymour lake is cleared.
  • Storm Lake 8041 and the CDT to Page lake, Flower lake, and Cutaway pass is cleared.
  • Page Lake 8039 to East fork trailhead is cleared.
  • Carpp Creek 8024 to Maloney Basin and Moose Lake road trailhead is cleared.
  • Carpp Lakes 8110 is cleared to Carpp Lake.
  • Hi-Line 8111 from Carpp Lake over Warren pass to Maloney basin is cleared.
  • Hi-Line 8111 from Maloney basin to Cutaway pass is cleared.
  • Hi-Line 8111 from Carpp Lake to the Tamarack jct. is cleared.
  • Tamarack Lake trail 8004 is cleared.
  • Falls fork trail 8029 to Hi-Line trail 8111 is cleared.

  • Copper creek 8026 is cleared from the trailhead to the jct. with 313.
  • Edith Lake trail 8097 is all burned from 2017 fires, and camping is difficult.
  • Copper Creek 8026 is burned for the first 4 miles.
  • Falls fork to Hi-Line is all burned.
  • Hi-Line to Johnson lake is all burned, but the lake area is not burned.
  • Middle fork 8028 is all burned.
  • Tamarack Lake trail 8004 is all burned, but the lake area is not burned.
  • Hi-Line 8111 from Carpp lake to Tamarack jct. is all burned.
  • Hi-Line from Upper Carpp lake to the edge of Maloney basin is all burned.
