Know Fire & Other Restrictions Before You Go!: These conditions can affect your entire trip. For example, Extreme and Critical fire use restrictions mean no campfires and no portable cooking systems/stoves. Bring cold food and no S'mores. 

Be Bear Aware!: Bear safety is critical, for the safety of your group and/or you, as well as our bears. Help keep bears wild by following these tips. 

Overview of Site

Elevation: 3,350-feet in elevation

Location: Hwy. 39 at mile marker 32.18

Amenities:

  • 22 campsites with picnic tables
  • campfire rings
  • vault (non-flush) toilets.
  • No faucets for water available.
  • Seasonal stream water (treat before using). However, water flow may be low or non-existent due to reduced rainfall. Please bring enough water for cooking, cleaning, drinking, and extinguishing campfires.

Hiking: Access to Smith Mountain Trailhead, the East Fork Trail (Bridge to Nowhere)

Fees: Camping Fee - $12/night per site and $5/night per site for extra vehicle PLUS Day-Use Fee - $5 per vehicle or current Adventure Pass or current America the Beautiful Pass. An Adventure Pass or America the Beautiful Pass is required for vehicles parked outside the campground, too

RV’s: Maximum RV length is 22'. No hookups.

This campground is located on the North Fork of the San Gabriel River, approximately four miles from where the river is often stocked with rainbow trout in the summer. The Upper Bear Creek Trailhead (for backpacking trips leading into the wilderness) can be found roughly 1/4-mile from the campground.

Campsites are first-come, first-served. Reserving or holding of campsites not allowed.
Fees: $12/night for single unit.  Place cash/check/money order in the envelope provided and put it in the fee tube. Make checks and money orders payable to "USDA Forest Service."

Restrictions: See current fire restrictions. 
Water: NO DRINKING WATER. Water in the stream must be boiled or treated before drinking.
Restroom: Vault Toilets (3)
Passes: An Adventure Pass or America the Beautiful Pass may be necessary if visiting other locations during your visit to the Angeles National Forest.
