Sturgeon Falls

This beautiful area where you might experience the song of a Hermit Thrush or see shade tolerant wildflowers on the forest floor. This trail is a moderately difficult trail due mainly to its length and changes in grade. The trail winds down into the Gorge and along the river with waterfalls along the way.

This waterfalls is located in the Sturgeon River Gorge Wilderness area and motor vehicles are prohibited.

Directions

Access from Sidnaw, take M-28 east for half a mile, turn left on FR 2200 and travel approximately 13 miles north. Turn left on FR 2270, on the east edge of the Sturgeon River Gorge Wilderness. Parking will be on the right. To access from the north, turn south off of highway M38 onto Prickett Dam Rd., then at the fork turn right onto Forest Road 2270, after almost 10 miles the trailhead will be on your right with parking on the left.

This trail is moderately difficult mainly due to the steep grade in the middle. The beginning is relatively flat and easy hiking before a steep descent down into the gorge. The trail then eases up again before reaching the end of the trail.
