PROHIBITIONS

Pursuant to the provisions of 16 U.S.C. § 551, and 36 CFR § 261.50(a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited on National Forest Lands described below within the Ontonagon and Kenton Ranger Districts on the Ottawa National Forest, for the protection of public health and safety during the annual Lake Superior Performance Rally (LSPR).

  1. Being on the road in any manner. 36 CFR § 261.54(e)

CLOSURE DESCRIPTION:

The following closure is for the sections of roads as described below and shown on the attached map and list incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A: 

Forest Development Roads: Forest Road (FR), Forest Highway (FH), Junction (Jct)

  1. FR 1470: From Jct Pori Road to FR 1460
  2. FR 1460: From Jct FR 1470 to FH 16
  3. 1300: From Jct FH 16 to FR 2020
  4. 2020: From Jct FR 1300 to M28
  5. 3500: From Jct FR 3577 to FR 3630
  6. 3630: From Jct FR 3500 to FH 16
  7. 4580: From Jct Golden Glow Rd to FR 4500
  8. 4500: From Jct FR 4580 to FR 3616
  9. 3616: From Jct FR 4500 to FR 3610
  10. 3610: From Jct FR 3616 to FH 16

EXEMPTIONS

Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

1. Persons with a special use authorization or other Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this order. 36 CFR § 261.50(e)(1)
2. Any Federal, State, or Local Law Enforcement Officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty. 36 CFR § 261.50(e)(4)
3. Any Forest Service employees in the performance of their official duties regarding LSPR. 36 CFR § 261.50(e)(5)
4. Any other person meeting exemption requirements specified in the order. 36 CFR § 261.50(e)(6)
a. All personnel who are officially authorized by the permit holder.

IMPLEMENTATION

1. This Closure Order will be effective on October 17, 2025 at 10:00 AM (1000) ET hours and shall remain in effect through October 18, 2025 1:00AM (0100) ET.
2. A violation of this prohibition is punishable as a Class B misdemeanor by a fine of not more than $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for organizations, or by imprisonment for not more than six months, or both (16 U.S.C. § 551, 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571(b)(6), 3581(b)(7)).
