Black Creek Hiking Trail
Discover the hidden beauty of the piney woods in the Gulf Coastal Plain by hiking one of Mississippi’s longest and most challenging trails. The Black Creek Hiking Trail continues for 39 miles along the Black Creek River. Hikers can access the trail from Black Creek Trailhead, Fairley Bridge Landing, and Big Creek Landing. The trail climbs over rolling hills and meanders down through the flat land of the Black Creek flood plain. Over 100 bridges and boardwalks have been constructed to provide crossing over small streams and ponds. Approximately 10 miles of the trail is located in the Black Creek Wilderness. No drinking water is available along the trail. Only foot travel is permitted on the trail.
Black Creek Hiking Trail is open year-round unless weather conditions require the trail to be closed. No user fees required.

Getting There
Directions
Trailhead at Big Creek Landing: Take Hwy. 49, 1 mile south of the Brooklyn, MS exit. Turn west onto County Road 334. After .5 miles, turn west on County Road 335. Continue 1.5 miles, then turn north onto Forest Service Road 335E to the landing.
Trailhead at Fairley Landing: Take Hwy. 49 to Wiggings, MS. Take State Road 29 north of County Road 318, then take 318 south 6 miles to Forest Service Road 374A to the landing.
Black Creek Trailhead: Take Hwy. 49 to Brooklyn, MS, then take County Road 301 east to Janice, MS. Turn south on State Road 29 for 3 miles.
