Claiborne Multiple-Use Trails
The Calcasieu Ranger District manages the Claiborne Multiple-Use Trail System. These trails offers a variety of recreation experiences within the Kisatchie National Forest.
The Claiborne Multiple-Use Trail System is located in southern Rapides Parish in the historic Camp Claiborne area. Camp Claiborne is where over 500,000 troops trained for WWII and was the third largest city in Louisiana during those war years.
The trails are available for off-highway vehicles (ATV, UTV), motorcycle, bicycles (including E-bikes) and horse use. Hiking and biking are also allowed on the Claiborne Multiple-Use Trails; however, they are primarily used for motorized and equestrian riders.

General Information
There are more than 70 miles in the Claiborne Multiple-Use Trail System. These trails loop through upland pine forests and hardwood bottoms and consist of three separate loops that vary in distance and difficulty level:
- North Loop, 31 miles
- Woodworth Loop, 20 miles
- Boy Scout Loop (single track), 30 miles
Trail loops are marked with orange markings and the primary trailhead/staging area is the Loran Campground/Day-Use area. An additional staging area is at Ahtus Melder Camp (horses only).
$5 per operator/day for Claiborne Trails; $10 per camp unit/night at Loran Campground.

Directions
From Alexandria, take US Hwy 165 south through Woodworth for 14 miles to La Hwy 112. Turn right on La Hwy 112 and go approximately 3 miles to FS Road #258. Turn right and proceed 1.5 miles to the Loran Trailhead and Campground.
From Forest Hill Hwy 112, take Hwy 165 north 2.1 miles. Turn left on Hwy 112 W. Go 2.6 miles. Turn right on FS Road #258 and go 1.4 miles to Loran Trailhead and Campground.
