Bachelor Mountain Trail #3420

The 1.9 mile trail meanders through an older Noble fir and Douglas-fir forest. Wildflowers are abundant along the rocky openings and the former lookout site offers panoramic views of the cascades

Getting There

Directions

Access 1: From Detroit, Oregon, travel East on Highway 22 for approximately 21 miles to Straight Creek Road (Highway 11 aka Quartzville Scenic Byway). Turn right on 11, travel for about 4 miles to Forest Road 1168 (Do not turn at first 1168 junction). Turn right on Forest Road 1168, travel for about 4.5 to Forest Road 430, travel about 0.5 mile on Forest Road 430 to trailhead.

Access 2: From Sweet Home, Oregon, travel east on Highway 20 for 47.5 miles to the Highway 20 / 126 and Highway 22 junction, turn onto Highway 22 and travel west for 12 miles to the junction with Straight Creek Road (Highway 11 aka Quartzville Scenic Byway) travel for about 4 miles to Forest Road 1168 (Do not turn at first 1168 junction). Veer right onto Forest Road 1168, travel for 4 miles to the junction with Forest Road 430. At the end of Forest Road 430 is the trailhead.
