McCoy Snowmobile Area

Catch views of the High Cascades from various places along routes in this snowmobile area. There are two parking lots, and the area offers a variety of loops along groomed forest roads that lead to McCoy Shelter. Rest and warm up at the McCoy snow shelter, where toilets are also available.

The McCoy Snowmobile Trail is maintained by the North Santiam Snowmobile Club in cooperation with the Detroit Ranger District. Marked routes follow existing roads and offer a variety of terrain and scenic vistas. Snowmobile trails are marked with orange diamonds.

In the summer, McCoy Motorized Recreation Area is shared-use road system comprised of approximately 50 miles of roads open to motorized Class I, II, III, and IV users and highway vehicles.

Directions

From Detroit, Oregon, head east on Highway 22 for 6 miles to McCoy Road (Forest Service Road 2233). The parking area will be based on the snow level. There is a large staging area parking lot 1/2 mile up from the junction with the highway.
