Moose and Gordon Dispersed Camping Closure
The purpose of this closure is to prohibit dispersed overnight camping and make these areas available as day-use only. This is to allow river access for all users, reduce conflict, reduce safety concerns, reduce and eliminate health and sanitation issues associated with improper disposal of human waste and garbage, as well as improve parking issues.

CLOSURE AREA:
- All closures are contained within Township 8S., Range 5E., Sections 1, 2, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 21, 22, and 27; Township 13S., Range 3E., Sections 22, 23, 24, 25, 27, 34, and 36; and Township 13S., Range 4E., Sections 30, and 31, in Linn County.
The closure area is located within the State of Oregon, Linn County, and within the
Administrative Boundaries of the Willamette National Forest. The closure area is depicted on the
attached map, which is incorporated into
Moose Creek Area
- Beginning at the intersection of State Highway 20 and the National Forest Boundary to the intersection of Moose Mountain Road (FSR 2027), the affected area is 500 feet on both sides of the road from the center line of State Highway 20, for 0.3 road miles;
- From Moose Mountain Road (FSR 2027) to the intersection of Moose Creek Road, the affected area is 500 feet on both sides of the road from the center line of FSR 2027, for 0.2 road miles.
- From the intersection of Moose Mountain Road and Moose Creek Road, heading northwest, to the intersection of Moose Creek Road and FSR 2025, the affected area is 500 feet on both sides of the road from the center line of Moose Creek Road, for 0.3 road miles.
- From the intersection of FSR 2025 and FSR 2025-500, heading northeast, the affected area is 500 feet on both sides of the road from the center line of FSR 2025, for 3.6 road miles, to the end of the road;
- From the intersection of FSR 2025 and FSR 2025-500 to the intersection of the National Forest Boundary, the affected area is 500 feet on both sides of the road from the center line of FSR 2025-500, for 0.2 road miles.
- From the intersection of FSR 2025 and FSR 2025-505 to the National Forest Boundary, the affected area is 500 feet on both sides of the road from the center line of FSR 2025- 505, for 0.1 road miles.
- From the intersection of Moose Creek Road and Moose Creek, the affected area is 500 feet from the center of Moose Creek, on both sides of Moose Creek, until the intersection of Moose Creek and the South Santiam River.
Gordon Road
- Beginning at the intersection of State Highway 20 and Gordon Road (FSR 2032), the affected area is 500 feet on both sides of the road from the center line of FSR 2032 for 3 road miles
EXEMPTIONS:
Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e)(1) and (4), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
- Persons with a permit specifically exempting them for this Order.
- Any Federal, State, or Local Officer, or member of organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
Violations of these prohibitions are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000.00 for an individual or $10,000.00 for a corporation or imprisonment for not more than six months or both. Title 16 USC Section 551.
This order shall be effective upon signature and will remain in effect until rescinded or 3 years after signature.
