Cold Springs Trailhead

The Cold Springs Trailhead accesses the north end of the Boise Trail (#101). Located on the ridgeline and at the northern boundary of the Hells Canyon Wilderness this primitive trailhead has a small parking area for 2-3 vehicles.

  • Motorized vehicles, bicycles, carts, hang glider and other mechanical equipment is prohibited in the Wilderness area.

Directions

From Riggins, Idaho travel north on Highway 95 for 1.5 miles for Forest Road 241 (Race Creek Road); Travel up Race Creek Road for 3 miles to Bean Creek Road Junction keep right and stay on Forest Road 241 for 9 more miles to junction with Forest Road 420 (Iron Phone Junction); At Forest Road 420 junction turn left and go south for about 2 miles to Forest Road 1819 (Cold Springs Road); Travel about 3 miles on Forest Road 1819 to the Forest road 76022 at the road curve and go south for 1.5 to curve in road; The trailhead is on curve on right side of road.

Advisory: Many of these roads are narrow, steep and winding and are suitable for high clearance and 4x4 vehicles only.
