51 Road Reconstruction

The existing 4.5 miles of the 51 road, proposed for reconstruction, is narrow with blind corners and no shoulders. Lanes will be widened to 11 feet with 2 foot shoulders, sharp corners will be straightened, and the road surface will be improved. In some areas where the road is close to the river the road prism will be realigned away from the river. Culverts and ditches will be installed on the cut bank side to improve the drainage of the road. This project would provide for public safety, fish habitat, economic efficiency and to bring the road up to its standard management level 5.
