Recreation Region: Wild Rivers Ranger District

Six Mile Day Use

Located along the Illinois River Road (Forest Road 4103). The road bed cinches down into a single lane, advancing along the steep cliffs, then slopes to a level river terrace.  There are two log cabin style picnicking pavilions on site. The pavilions and the more traditional day use area are linked by way of a small arched metal foot bridge spanning over Six Mile Creek. This site supports more passive recreation, with less beach access.
